GREAT RIVERS MUTUAL has a longstanding history of providing insurance protection to its policyholders. Kenyon Mutual commenced business on July 3,1875, and just a few short years later Hay Creek Mutual Fire Insurance Company commenced business on February 10, 1879. On September 1, 2020 the policyholders of both companies approved a merger between these two financially strong companies and the two merged on January 1, 2021 under the name GREAT RIVERS MUTUAL INSURANCE COMPANY. 

There are ten board members and five employees of GREAT RIVERS MUTUAL. Our knowledgeable staff is here to answer your questions and offer assistance to our customers and agents. We work closely with Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance who provides our reinsurance coverage. GREAT RIVERS MUTUAL is a Grinnell Mutual member. A.M. Best affirmed an “A” (Excellent) Financial Strength Rating and a stable outlook for Grinnell Mutual, which has received an “A” rating since 1991. Grinnell Mutual is the largest primary reinsurer of farm mutual companies in North America.
